Confession: I don’t like soda. Except for root beer, that is. I don’t drink it very often, but, like my main character Marty, I love me some root beer. It’s especially delicious with a couple of dollops of good vanilla ice-cream floating in it!
My favorite brand is A&W, but I’m not particularly picky. Many years ago one of Jim’s co-workers brought us some craft-brewed root beer from a place up in Maine. It tasted amazing. After that, the kids and I bought extract and made our own. It didn’t take a lot of effort or ingredients and it tasted pretty great too.
Root Beer BBQ
I’ve made pork barbecue in the slow cooker a couple of times with the sauce consisting of a bottle of barbecue sauce and a can of root beer. Yummy! You can also use chicken in place of the pork.
I’ve not tried the recipes from “Cooking with Root Beer” found on Culture Cheat Sheet website, but they all look and sound fabulous! I might have to try those beans at my next cookout!
